Country Evening

Summer's arrival was late this year.

I would like to think that because it came late, it will last a bit longer.

But the crisp morning air and the earlier sunsets tell me that we have precious few of these warm summer evenings left.

Thank you for letting me share this country evening with you guys.  It was, truly, beautiful.

The Best Laid Plans.... (Whitman County Family Photographer)

Being the planning sort of person that I am, I usually have a pretty clear idea in my head about how a photo shoot is going to go.  I always scout out the location before hand, plan the basic flow of the session, talk with the people involved about their expectations, wardrobe, props and the like.

And sometimes things go as planned, and sometimes... well....

Isn't it funny how real life is so much prettier than the contrived plans we all make for ourselves?

This sweet little baby wanted nothing to do with anyone except for her Momma.  We had hoped to get more of her alone, and more her with her big sister.  But she is so little still and just needs her Mom, and, frankly, she would have nothing to do with me and my plans.  So we chose to go with the real thing.   Baby and Mom, being loved by each other, and being loved by the others.

Real Life is beautiful.

Real Life.  Real Moments.  Real Connections.

Thanks guys, for this nice reminder that the true stuff of life is so much nicer than what we think we want.

A Favorite Place (Colfax WA Family Photographer)

Do you have a favorite place?

A park that your little ones love?  A family ranch?  A river where you spend your summer days?

Call me and we can do a photo session there.  It can be as formal or casual as you'd like.  I'm easy that way ;)

My friend and her family have enjoyed this lovely State park for years, and now they have some lovely portraits to document their love.... for the great outdoors, for Klemgard Park, and for each other.

And who says the classic 'kiss' shot is just for engaged couples!?

Three is Company (Pullman, Colfax, Palouse Family Photographer)

"Can you do a sepia version of the photos?"
"Why, yes!  Yes I can!"

Hanging out with this family was pure joy.  We did the shoot on one of the first sunny days after a very long bout of rain, wind and cold.  The garden was beautiful and fresh, and the children were delighted to be outside.  I was delighted to be asked to photograph them and now I am delighted with the results.

Real Life.  Real Moments.  Real Connections.
My goal as a photographer has always been to capture the natural interactions between people who love each other.  I love how these kids made that so easy for me.
Thanks for this great opportunity!

Adoption Adoption Adoption! (Whitman County Family Photographer)

I spy with my little eye...
Two adoptees (only one is a child in this photo)
Two Birth Moms
One Adoptive Mom
One regular Mom
Two Biological children
and....
(the only thing that really matters...)
A lot of love.

With freezing cold temperatures, rain and wind, a sick little girl, and cold baby and a last minute location change... well... let's just say that the shots from this shoot are a miracle!  I'm so glad things turned out, as this was a rare opportunity for all of these people to be together, an opportunity that I was honored to photograph.

Utah Family Photographer (H Family)

Meet Garret, our nephew.

Garrett is 16 years old, kind, caring, funny, witty, handsome.  He loves trains more than anything in the world (beside his Mom, of course, who he loves to take on shopping dates).

Garrett also has autism.

This boy stole my heart years ago when I married Kenneth. I love their girls too, of course.
 But Garrett is just...

well... he's just Garrett.

Can you believe all the children in this family are adopted?  They all look exactly like their parents.  Uncanny, really.

Thanks for letting me capture your family!  It was a pleasure.

My sister friend, Beth, and her FIVE children.
I wish I were half the mother she is.
